8. Production of square stakes and acacia sleepers
For square stakes and rafters with sections up to 10x10cm, the acacia logs are first passed through a 4-blade saw. The gap between the 2 middle blades is adjusted according to the desired square stake section. This produces a plate of, for example, 5cm thick, to produce square sections of 5x5cm.
If the board is wide enough, it is sawn in a multi-blade saw to produce several stakes at a time.
If the board is narrower, it is sawn with a vertical saw.
To produce sleepers or square stakes of larger sections up to 15x15cm, acacia logs are sawn on a horizontal bandsaw.
